New Family Search
It will be a big job. I have already spent hours cleaning up but tend to get lost as I wonder from one name to another. I realize it needs to be done in an orderly fashion to clean everyone up and make sure all work is completed. I would appreciate any help I can get in this effort.
I know when it becomes available that many of you will want to get in and see what you can do to help. I think we will be able to cut down on effort and time if we work together. Log in and check out the names you want to cleanup and then they will be marked so that others can choose another group to clean up.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP and be very careful - this bug is contagious.
Happy HUNTing

The sand in the Santa Clara Cemetery is no minor thing. The headstones are "sand-blasted" with each windstorm. The older headstone, though better than most was showing signs of wear. Others in the cemetery have been completely destroyed. The headstones are not at the same place in the cemetery. Plural marriage was a hard thing, and there was much pain for Anna Katherina when her husband took her daughter as a plural wife."Sacred to the memory of 'Catherine' wife of Casper Gubler, born Nov 25, 1825 at Canton Turgau, Muhlheim, Switzerland. Died May 26, 1897 at Santa Clara, Utah. Mother, thou hast from us flown to the region far above. We to thee erect this stone, consecrated by our love."

Casper Gubler dies at 82
Washington County Newspaper: page 5:Obituary:
Casper Gubler
Born Aug 1, 1835 in Mulheim, Ct. Thurgau, Switzerland, died Dec 8, 1917, at the age of 82.
He was one of the first pioneers to the Dixie country, was in the country four years before being called to settle in Santa Clara. His parents died when he was about 15 years of age, he was the youngest of a large family.
After his parents passed away, his birth place was no longer home to him; he traveled 50 miles on foot to Zurich where he had a brother and sisters. He found work there in a silk and wool factory where he worked for a year, after which he went and learned the joiner and cabinet trade for three years. During that time he got acquainted with some Mormon elders and in due time he was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aug, 1854. Soon after he received the priesthood and was ordained a teacher, which office he held for many years.
He then said good-bye to old Switzerland and emigrated to Utah. A part of the tedious journey of 1,300 miles from Iowa to Salt Lake was made by hand carts, he arrived in September, 1857, well worn out from the hardships on the plains.
Times were very hard in Utah, Indians bothered very much, also Johnson's army. The settlers had to be stationed all around to keep guard in 1858 Indians troubled in every way; work was very hard to get.
In 1861 he was called by Brigham Young to open a mission in Southern Utah, which is now called "Dixie" where he made his home for over 50 years. Went on a mission to Europe in 1888, traveling in Switzerland and Germany. Was ward teacher for 30 years under Bishops Bunker and Ensign; a Sunday school teacher for 15 years and for 12 years was president of the Elders Quorum; he held the office of a school trustee for several years. He was a carpenter and farmer.
He is survived by a wife and 10 children, 44 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren. He was a kind husband and a good father.

Ormon Wilkins Mitchell Obituary
Ormon Wilkins Mitchell—a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, deep love for his family, and an enduring appreciation for the simple blessings of home.
Ormon was born on November 14, 1934, in Roosevelt, Utah, the third son born to Gladys and Seymour Mitchell. When he was just three years old, his family moved to Southern Utah, the place that would forever hold his heart.
From an early age, Ormon developed a love for horses and dogs, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed being outdoors and embraced the values of hard work and dedication. As a young man, he worked in his family's Pepsi plant, where he remained until he married. During his high school years, he was active in sports, playing on the tennis team and enjoying basketball, reflecting both his competitive spirit and his love of being with others.
At the age of 21, Ormon married the love of his life, Fawn Gubler, a rodeo queen from Santa Clara, Utah. Together they began their life in Southern California, where Ormon worked as a lineman for the phone company, climbing poles and installing telephone lines. It was demanding work that suited his strong work ethic and determination.
But no matter where life took them, their hearts longed for the red mountains, open spaces, and the closeness of family. They returned to Southern Utah, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their four cherished children: Rex, Kristine, Mary Ann, and Bryce.
Family was the center of Ormon’s world. Some of the happiest memories were made at the family cabin in Pinto, a place filled with laughter, hard work, stories, and time together. Those years created traditions and memories that will continue to be treasured by generations to come.
Ormon lived a life of quiet strength. He showed his love not only through words, but through his example—by working hard, caring deeply, and always making time for the people who mattered most. He found joy in family, in the land he loved, and in the animals that had been dear to him since childhood.
He passed away peacefully at his home in Diamond Valley, Utah, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion. He is survived by his four children and his fifteen grandchildren and his many grate grandchildren. He was Welcomed home by his loving wife Fawn and his grandson Zachary Cleveland on July 30, 2026.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 6 at Spilsbury Mortuary from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Funeral service will follow starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Veyo Cemetery.
